Facts:

Subterranean termites build distinctive tunnels, often referred to as "mud tubes," to reach food sources and protect themselves from open air. They use their scissor-like jaws to eat wood 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Like other termite species, subterranean termites also feed on products containing cellulose. Subterranean termites swarm in the spring when groups of reproductive termites go off to start new colonies. Termites may be tiny, but they can cause huge damage to your house should you experience an infestation. According to the National Pest Management Association (NPMA), these pesky critters cost U.S. homeowners an estimated $5 billion a year to control and repair damage.

Facts:

Bedbugs are small, oval, brownish insects that live on the blood of animals or humans. Bedbugs are active mainly at night and usually bite people while they are sleeping. They feed by piercing the skin and withdrawing blood through an elongated beak. The bugs feed from three to 10 minutes to become engorged and then crawl away unnoticed. Bedbugs have flat bodies about the size of an apple seed. After feeding, however, their bodies swell and are a reddish color.Female bedbugs may lay hundreds of eggs, which contributes to them becoming a rapidly growing epidemic.

Fact:

Fleas infest both household pets and wild animals like opossums, raccoons and skunks. They can also catch a ride on shoes, pant legs or blankets, which can transfer the fleas to inside your home or yard. Fleas use their powerful legs to jump as high as 8" vertically, which is 150 times their own height. If humans could do this, we would be able to leap over skyscrapers. Fleas can live for about 100 days during which time the females produce 400-500 offspring, which makes them a total nuisance to us and our furry friends.

Facts:

Rodents can be difficult to keep out of structures. For instance, mice can squeeze through spaces as small as a dime and rats can fit through holes the size of a quarter. Homeowners can help stop infestations by sealing holes in the exterior which can be major highways for rodents to enter. Some common areas are where water lines and HVAC lines enter the structure as well as cracks in the siding, and the foundation, etc. Rodents have to constantly gnaw to keep their growing teeth into check, so its very important to rid your home of them before they cause damage and/or become a  fire hazard from gnawing electrical wires. If you hear scurrying around, see rodent droppings, see gnawing marks or come face to face with them, its time to call us to help ID and eliminate the intruder!
